luke whitaker

Luke is an English photographer and gallery owner with a love of the sea who lives and works in the beautiful waterside village of Bosham, on Britain’s south coast.

He is hugely passionate about photography’s growing position within the art world and in 2012 he set up a photographic gallery on Bosham’s historic waterfront specialising in marine, landscape and wildlife photographs.

Luke has a keen eye for what sells and why, and personally represents some of the world’s leading photographic artists. He has an established record of running successful exhibitions that frequently outsell the London galleries, and has developed a growing list of collectors on the south coast.

Luke has always been drawn to the sea and his personal work is dominated with coastal views and English seascapes. “I try to capture some of the rhythm and timeless beauty of Britain’s coastline that has remained unchanged for centuries”.

Luke was educated at King’s College School in Wimbledon and Cambridge University. He lives in Emsworth with his wife Sally and their two children. Outside of photography, his dream ambition is to own a small fishing boat and catch seabass within Chichester Harbour.

Sally is married to Luke, and together they run Coast & Capture.

Sally is a qualified secondary teacher so she brings a huge passion for education and a lifelong love of learning.

Sally is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business: booking your courses, managing the website, writing our blog and making sure Luke is in the right place at the right time!

She moved to Bosham from North Norfolk, where she loved to walk her dog along the vast windswept coastal paths and salt marshes of Blakeney and Cley and she felt instantly at home in Chichester Harbour with its intricate creeks and mudfalts.

When not working on Coast & Capture, Sally is usually knee deep in lego with their children. With any remaining energy (not much!) she loves to sing folk music and upcycle furniture.

Sally was educated at Bromsgrove School in Worcestershire, then at Kingston University and later the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama.

John Langridge

With over thirty years as a successful commercial photographer, John Langridge’s thriving studio in West Sussex specialises in portraiture and wedding photography and in recent years has expanded to offer film production for the business sector. “I started in the 1980s with a Hasselblad film camera and I’m excited to teach with Coast & Capture because fundamentally the principles of photography remain unchanged today. It’s about light, colour and composition – and above all having some fun with your photography and staying true to your creative vision”

John will be sharing his creative and technical expertise on our ‘Capture To Print’ Panoramic Photography Workshop in Autumn 2019.

Benjamin Graham

Benjamin Graham is a dedicated picture-taker, devoted coast-hugger and devout campervan-dweller. Overall winner of the 2017 UK Landscape Photographer of the Year, he is club-circuit speaker, Tour Leader and Photography Tutor.

His internationally-published work is inspired by the beauty that is right here on our doorsteps in Blighty. The transition-zone theme that unifies his landscape portfolio arises from his obsession with early starts, pre-dawn blue hour light and the mutable atmospheric conditions that, in fairly equal measure, so exasperate and astonish us on our tiny, island realm.
